WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH (AND WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY)
The Horticulture Assistant works on a collaborative team of volunteers, facility workers, and kitchen staff to cultivate welcoming grounds for Agrace’s patients, families, and staff to enjoy.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS ROLE (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
The Horticulture Assistant is responsible for landscape & garden maintenance of all gardens and grounds, providing supervision for volunteers, and snow removal.
Horticulture
- Assist in maintenance of patient room patio landscaping.
- Assist in maintenance and development of gardens, landscaped areas, prairies, and woodlands.
- Assist in Horticulture program development
Landscape
- Perform general site maintenance including operation of power equipment.
Volunteer Supervision
- Lead volunteers on maintenance of gardens.
Snow Removal
- Perform snow removal on all sidewalks, stairs, entrances and exits.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Experienced gardener with demonstrated horticulture knowledge including plant identification/care.
- Experienced landscaper with demonstrated landscape knowledge including mulching, edging & pruning.
- Two years of relevant experience preferred
- Ability to direct volunteers
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to be flexible in time and task to meet organizational needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about patients, families, caregivers, staff, donors, and organizational intellectual property
- Ability to use proper body mechanics and standard precautions
