A key member of our team responsible for general production activities throughout different seasons. This includes seed reception, field operations like planting and detasseling, seed conditioning and treating, warehousing and shipping, equipment maintenance, and operating critical machines. Effective communication and process improvement are central to this role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidentiality, customer service, and professionalism
- Support and lead safety programs
- Supervise shifts as needed
- Promote a safe working environment and practices
- Oversee and/or train seasonal workers and full-time employees
- Assist in field operations and scouting
Critical Tasks:
- Operate husking equipment, seed dryers, and/or shellers
- Operate and calibrate seed conditioning/treating equipment
- Operate packaging equipment
- Warehouse finished product and supplies, checking for accuracy
- Maintain and troubleshoot plant equipment
- Complete paperwork/reports in a timely and accurate manner
Additional Requirements:
- Cross-training in all plant operations
- Assist with housekeeping and preventative maintenance of equipment
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Work experience in the seed/agriculture industry preferred
Skill Set:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to obtain a Certified Pesticide Applicator License and Commercial Driver's License as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and common PC-based software
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 65 pounds
- Ability to work assigned hours and shifts, including overtime
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various conditions
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day
- Valid driver's license required, meeting MVR guidelines
