Summary:
AgriNorthwest is seeking a highly organized and detail-orientated Accounting Specialist to join our local finance team. The Accounting Specialist provides accounting and administrative support and is a key contributor in helping to maintain good internal controls over the assigned processes.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and compile backup documentation and approvals before paying invoices.
- Match, code and enter invoices into the accounting system with correct general ledger codes.
- File paid invoices promptly.
- Research and resolve accounts payable discrepancies with vendors.
- Monitor daily commodity hedge calls with brokers and prepare wire transfers as needed.
- Monitor local bank accounts for incoming wire transfers.
- Enter certificate records into the Harvest system and reconcile them against the load tickets entered into the system.
- Assist with the reconciliation, processing, and distribution of payroll.
- Maintain petty cash box and associated records.
- Scan all checks received each day into electronic bank deposit system.
- Record cash receipts into accounting system.
- Assist with preparation of monthly sales and use tax filings.
- Enter general ledger journal entries into the accounting system.
- Open and distribute mail.
- Maintain company physical and electronic filing systems.
- Respond professionally to routine telephone calls by screening and referring calls to appropriate staff.
- Cross train on other accounting duties and serve as back-up.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Continued education or professional certifications preferred.
- 5 years in general accounting processes with an understanding of accounting best practices and how those practices promote both control and efficiency.
- Proficient with 10-key operations and general computer skills, including Microsoft tools. Previous use of Infor or other ERP systems a plus.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and outstanding organization skills.
- Able to travel to various farm and office locations (domestic travel).
