Summary:
River Point Farms is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our local team. The Assistant is responsible for entering data into preventative maintenance system, receiving and distributing parts and materials, and managing the inventory supplies for the shop as well as stocking remote cabinets on the floor. This position will also assist with environmental data entry, surveys, sampling, and record keeping.
Responsibilities:
- Understand basic mechanical systems to help identify parts.
- Organize, categorize and photolog existing parts and equipment inventory with the assistance of maintenance lead, plant electrician and maintenance manager.
- Record specific data on equipment for entry into preventative maintenance system as directed by maintenance manager and PM program team.
- Receive inventory of parts daily, verify the parts against invoices and purchase orders, complete paperwork, input the details into the system, and put inventory in the designated area.
- Maintain parts inventory for all Production facilities.
- Take and call-in orders from mechanics to vendors.
- Become familiar with MSDS sheets, food safety documentation and champion a world-class safety culture by actively observing, reporting issues/concerns, and following all company and industry policies and processes.
- Ensure with mechanics that the proper information is recorded pertaining to maintenance and repair parts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments.
- Assist in inter-department parts and mail delivery.
- On-call for impromptu requests including pick-up or delivery needs for parts and environmental samples to the laboratory.
Qualifications:
- Inventory tracking, parts inventory, or other related experience. Basic mechanical aptitude with any maintenance experience desired.
- Valid in-state driver's license with ability to operate forklift/telehandler/lifts.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Good computer skills, including MS tools. Ability to learn new software/systems.
- Attention to detail with ability to read labels and identify mechanical parts.
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal, customer service, and professional communication skills. Spanish Bilingual a plus.
- First Aid and CPR certifications, or ability to obtain certifications upon hire.
- Meet the physical requirements of the role including ability to lift up to 70 pounds and activities associated with standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and climbing. Work includes long-term sitting and occasional long-term standing/walking during.
- Able to work nights, holidays, weekends and shift work, per company needs.
