Summary:
River Point Farms is seeking a customer-oriented Sales Manager to join our Onion Sales & Marketing team. The Sales Manager manages relationships with current and prospective customers and effectively executes the sales strategies and goals.
Responsibilities:
- Become the technical expert on the product which includes knowledge of onion farming, sampling/grading, USDA certifications, PACA standards, processing/packing/storing, shipping and trade standards, and global requirements on food safety and fumigation.
- Schedule tours and provide notice to the internal teams in preparation for visits.
- Provide customers with professional, positive, and memorable visits to the facilities and farms.
- Monitor day-to-day pricing activities and changes within the marketplace, as well as factors that may impact the industry including the weather, worldwide events and the global economy.
- Track customer and broker activity to keep up with inventory levels, new product development, and future needs.
- Provide weekly sales and market price reports, interpret monthly industry sales and shipment reports, and help develop the annual strategy and reporting.
- Partner with accounting and management teams on new customer profiles, manage customer credit and A/R, negotiate the terms, and verify accuracy of documentation.
- Regularly follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction, delivery standards are met, and claims or quality concerns are addressed.
- Ensure company and regulatory compliance, including the Delegation of Authority.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and vendors through regular visits to local operations.
- Represent the company and professionally network within the industry through participation in various associations and organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing Agricultural Economics or similar field. Or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years related experience in sales management, with 2 or more years in agribusiness/produce sales.
- Proficient computer skills with competency in Microsoft tools and ability to learn other inventory and propriety software/systems.
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal, communication, leadership, and business partnership skills.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and time management skills.
- Professionalism with the openness to experiencing and learning unfamiliar cultures and customs.
- Able to work overtime on critical business needs and travel up to 50% to various farms, customer locations, trade shows, and conventions.
