What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Veterinarian position at Agri Beef?
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Staff Veterinarian role was created as a partnership between Agri Beef and Veterinary Research and Consulting Services (VRCS) to help develop future leaders and team members in the beef cattle industry. Combining Agri Beef’s vertically integrated beef production system with the veterinary expertise and coaching from VRCS, the Staff Veterinarian position is a hands-on, immersive learning and development opportunity to progress both as a leader and veterinarian. With a focus on practicing integrated evidence-based veterinary work, the Staff Veterinarian will work to investigate epidemiological outbreaks and poor cattle performance to create favorable future outcomes. The Staff Veterinarian oversees the health program, breeding soundness exams, and State mandated trich testing requirements for the Wagyu bulls that are the backbone of the world-renowned, Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef program. SCOPE:
- 99% Beef Cattle, 1% Equine.
- Licensure and USDA Accreditation in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Montana, and Wyoming.
- Position based out of Boise, ID with up to 50% travel depending on the season.
- Veterinary training and mentoring provided by current Staff Veterinarian and the team at Veterinary Research and Consulting Services LLC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
AB Genetics (Snake River Farms Program) (40%)
- Work to maintain the health and well-being of the Wagyu bull herd.
- Ensure that all bulls are sound and fertile prior to the breeding season.
- Ensure that all bulls are compliant with State mandated trich testing requirements.
- Assist with the planning and execution of bull and heifer development.
- Assist with advanced reproduction projects such as AI, ET, and OPU.
- Aid in various research projects, data collection, pregnancy diagnosis, and ranch consulting.
AB Livestock (40%)
- Provide integrated evidence-based medicine, technology, animal husbandry and management practices to feeding partners (feedlots, growyards, and pasture) who raise and feed outside company owned cattle.
- Provide regulatory work for feeding partners such as CVI, VFD, and prescriptions.
Veterinary Research and Consulting Services (20%)
- Assist Veterinary Research and Consulting Services LLC in implementing and monitoring animal health programs at internal company feedyards. https://vrcsllc.com/.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD).
