Purpose:
The purpose of the Design Engineering Clerk is to manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of bills of material and the data entry of additional information needed to support product readiness to produce and ship. This role ensures that the BOMs are meticulously organized, ensuring that all product specifications, quantities, and sourcing information are properly documented. The Design Engineering Clerk plays a critical role in supporting the Design Engineering team by providing timely and correct data.
In addition, the Design Engineering Clerk assists in the documentation, tracking, and processing of Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) throughout their lifecycle. This role ensures that all engineering change requests are accurately recorded, updated, and communicated to relevant departments, maintaining clear and organized records of revisions.
Essential Functions
This position’s essentials include but are not limited to:
- Bill of Material (BOM) Tasks
- BOM creation
- BOM updates
- Maintain status of Quote BOM’s (roll-out and deletion)
- Assist with BOM structure questions/training
- MTMS Tasks
- Create/Update part number descriptions
- Update part number status to obsolete when required
- Update Revision date and level of parts and prints as they are released
- Enter unit weights into system (DIM01)
- Enter Pallet conversion for each unit (MPD10)
- Enter Country of Origin (COO) information
- Engineering Change Notice (ECN) Tasks
- Utilize Inventor Vault
- Create ECN’s for Marketing Department materials and release into system
- Quality Check ECN’s for accuracy, verify correct units and check for completion
- Attach Print PDF’s to ECN’s and route for approval
- Monitor ECN approval process for timely progress
- Testing Department Support
- Maintain Testing Department spreadsheet and update dry erase progress plan
- Download Go-Pro video &pictures to the correct “Testing” Folder
- Other Tasks
- Document “department processes” for Engineering reference
- Timeclock maintenance
