A brief description of expectations is listed below:
Dental assistants work under the supervision of dentists and are responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental office, ranging from patient care to administrative duties to laboratory functions. The dental assistant position requires a diverse set of skills: clinical, clerical, interpersonal, and technological and more.
Job Duties include:
- Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment
- Preparing operatories for treatment
- 4 handed chair side patient care delivery
- Taking x-rays and impressions
- Applying topical anesthetic
- Setting up of and breaking down of rooms
- Assisting hygiene in perio charting and other needs
- Make temporary crowns
- Obtaining patients’ dental records
- Recording patient’s medical history and highlighting the information for dentist’s reference
- Patient Education and post operative instructions commuted clearly
- Making patients feel comfortable and foster an empathetic environment before, during and after dental treatment
- Scheduling appointments, maintaining records, answering phones, ordering supplies and ensuring proper packing and storage, and other office tasks
