AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Lumber Inspector to be located in Smoot, WV. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the Lumber Inspector is responsible for inspecting and grading lumber.
JOB DUTIES:
- Examine lumber on a moving chain conveyor to determine grade, species, and surface measurement of each board then place a value on the board.
- Reports production issues to supervisor.
- Ensure inspection slip is maintained in optimum working order by performing routine maintenance and repairs.
- Informs supervisor of any repairs needed beyond the scope of normal routine.
- Perform any other work-related task deemed necessary by the mill management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening.
- Positive and Verifiable Work History.
- Ability to work occasional overtime.
- Prior sawmill experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Embrace a safety-first attitude and a healthy respect for machinery.
- Prefer working with your hands.
- Prefer to be on your feet all day.
- You are punctual and reliable.
- Requires National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) Inspector certification of Lumber
Grading Short Course and four years’ experience. Approved company training and experience may be substituted for formal education/certification.
