The CPG Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in identifying and cultivating strategic relationships with brand owners within targeted food segments, driving the adoption of Ahlstrom's innovative food packaging solutions among direct converter customers.
This critical position requires a deep understanding of brand owner packaging needs, objectives, and strategies. By doing so, the CPG BDM can identify new product development opportunities, thereby fueling long-term growth for the business unit. While not directly responsible for product sales, the CPG BDM collaborates extensively with the sales team to support delivering profitability, revenue, and volume targets of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Relationship Building:
- Identify and establish meaningful connections with CPG companies within defined food growth segments
- Diligently understand packaging goals and objectives of CPGs, then collaborate with the internal Food team to define requirements, scope the opportunity, and clearly outline the business case
- Stay abreast of relevant market trends within targeted market segments and effectively communicate these insights to key stakeholders
- Foster effective relationships with key decision-makers within targeted CPG organizations
- Facilitate seamless communication between internal sales, marketing, and R&D team members to drive actions that deliver new business and innovation opportunities in strategic market segments
- Effectively communicate Ahlstrom's unique capabilities and advantages in the marketplace, differentiating us from competitors
- Previous experience in consumer product companies or paper making/converting operations
- A minimum of 5 years of sales, marketing, business development, or industry experience preferred
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to cultivate new business opportunities
- Self-motivated individual with a passion for business development
- High degree of business acumen
- Ability to travel 50% of the time
- Must possess a valid driver's license and passport
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Willingness to work additional hours during the week, on weekends, or outside regular office hours may be required
- Ability to work in a standard office environment, including sitting or standing for extended periods, operating standard office equipment, carrying documents/files, reaching, bending, and speaking
