Die Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

Maintenance and repair of production casting dies (molds).  

Scope of Responsibility:

Assure casting dies are at the best possible condition to assure good production results

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

General Maintenance of Casting Dies

• Inspection and Diagnosis
• Disassembly
• Clean, repair, and/or replace components
• TIG and MIG Welding
• Manual machining (3 axis and lathe)
• CNC machining (3 axis and lathe)
• Electrical Discharge Machining (Sinker EDM)
• Fabrication of components as needed
• Reassembly
• Functional checks to confirm final condition before releasing back to production
• Documentation of maintenance tasks completed

Production Support

• Troubleshooting and repair of casting dies to avoid production downtime
• Working with production and other maintenance departments to troubleshoot and correct downtime issues with castings dies and production equipment. 
• Weekend work for troubleshooting production issues when there is weekend production

Education/Experience/Training (minimum required):

1. Ability or willingness to learn how to read manufacturing drawings
2. Ability or willingness to learn TIG and MIG welding
3. Ability or willingness to learn Manual and CNC machining & fabrication
4. Ability or willingness to learn use of inspection gages
5. Willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing and shop environment
6. Good math skills
7. Strong mechanical aptitude
8. Ability to work 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd shift as needed
