Job Overview
We are seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Gallery Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the arts, a solid background in visual design, and proven sales experience. This role involves supporting daily gallery operations, assisting in exhibition setup and marketing, providing excellent visitor engagement, and offering administrative support to the CEO. The Gallery Assistant will play a key role in maintaining both the aesthetic integrity and business functionality of the gallery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup and takedown of exhibitions, ensuring artworks are displayed professionally and accurately
- Greet and engage with visitors, providing information about exhibitions, artists, and available works
- Support the CEO with day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, correspondence, and general office organization
- Contribute to sales efforts by engaging with potential clients, providing product knowledge, and assisting in closing sales
- Create promotional materials using digital design tools to support marketing initiatives
- Collaborate with the team on spatial layout and exhibition design, utilizing SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite
- Conduct image post-production for promotional and social media use
- Help maintain and update the gallery’s website and digital platforms
- Stay informed about contemporary art trends and the art market to provide insightful communication with clients and visitors
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong foundation in visual design principles, including color theory and layout composition
- Proficiency in SketchUp for 3D modeling and space planning
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Experience in post-production editing for digital images
- Sales experience, preferably in a gallery, retail, or client-facing environment
- Basic understanding of web design and CMS platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Proactive, flexible, and eager to learn and grow within a creative industry
