What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gallery Assistant position at Los Angeles County Fair Association?
The Millard Sheets Art Center Gallery Assistant will work throughout the duration of the L.A. County Fair. This position will direct and inform visitors who come to see the artwork on display in the gallery.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Watch over the visitors, staff, and gallery artwork and assets in a courteous and respectful manner; reminding visitors (of all ages) not to touch the artwork or run within the galleries
- Direct and inform visitors about the artwork on view in the gallery
- Direct traffic and way-finding for visitors
- Oversee the temporary LACMA Store
- Provide excellent customer service and assist visitors by providing directions to various parts of the gallery, answering general questions, etc.

- The ideal candidate must be able to interact well with others and communicate effectively
- Must be friendly, outgoing, and possess strong customer service skills
- Dependability, flexibility, and adaptability are absolutely critical skills
- Must have the ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, exercise good judgement, and work independently
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
- Must be able to walk and be on feet for several hours a day
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs
- Must be able to work in extreme weather, such as heat, cold, or rain
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
