Summary

The On-Call Clerical position provides exceptional customer services. Performs administrative and office support activities for multiple supervisors. The on-call clerical greets visitors, handles incoming calls, and performs general administrative duties as directed. May also assist other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry and research tasks.

Please Note: This position is open to Shareholders only. This position is located in Glennallen, AK.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and transfer calls to appropriate personnel or department. Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable
  • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate staff members, while ensuring proper safety and security protocols are followed
  • Provides general information in response to inquiries about Ahtna, its mission, activities or personnel. Maintains solid customer relationships by handling questions and concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Organizes and maintains reception area, so as to present a welcoming and professional appearance. Assures that Ahtna marketing materials and other informational literature is current and available for visitors and members
  • Maintains cleanliness of conference rooms, production rooms and assists as needed for preparation of meetings
  • Maintains kitchen areas, monitor foods in the refrigerators, keeps counters clean, dishes washed and put away

Minimum Qualifications

  • Zero (0) to six (6) months’ experience working in a customer service or administrative based position
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or be able to obtain a GED within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass required criminal background check and Pass pre- employment drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft and office experience
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
  • Valid Driver’s License

Shareholder Preference

Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all phases of employment.

  • This position requires a professional demeanor over the phone and in-person, and the ability to speak clearly, show diplomacy, courtesy and good judgement with public contacts. Personality conducive to public relations activities is necessary.
  • This person must have highly evolved interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to interpret instructions presented in a variety of situations. Flexible and adaptable to work style.
  • Must be able to complete tasks with minimum supervision. Strong detail and follow-up skills are essential. Ability to complete work in a priority order, meeting a high degree of professionalism, quality and craftsmanship.
  • Must demonstrate through past employment a high degree of personal integrity, professional ethics, and an ability to adhere to strict confidentiality. Must be reliable, punctual, and consistent in all job duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively handle potentially stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

Work performed in a professional office setting utilizing telephone, computer and other office equipment.
