AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival is seeking a Communications Coordinator to promote our vast array of programs and events to our membership community and to the general public. The ideal candidate will be collaborative while also self-directed, detail oriented and able to efficiently juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival offers a competitive salary and benefits package. We seek applicants with a range of backgrounds, viewpoints, and work styles. We currently work both in-person and remotely, with additional in-person events and seek ways to encourage collaboration while providing flexibility for work-life balance.
This is a full-time hourly position in the range of $23.46-28.50 per hour. AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival contributes 100% of employee premium coverage of medical benefits and life insurance, and employees may enroll in the company dental plan which the company covers at 50% of the premium. Employees are invited to participate in a 401k for which the company matches up to 4% of wages per year. Full-time employees receive holiday leave which includes nine paid holidays, plus the entire week between December 25th through January 1st. New full-time employees accrue ten days of additional paid time off over the course of the year, with an additional day for each anniversary of hiring date, and additional sick leave above the requirements of the City of Seattle and State of Washington. Sixteen hours are available for paid employee community service each year, which can be used by team members to give time for their passions and interests. Reimbursement is available for in-office days and work-related events’ parking expenses.

- Sharing compelling stories and initiatives that elevate AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival’s missions, and foster engagement beyond event promotion
- Maintaining consistent look, feel and voice for our brands in all communications channels by producing content in collaboration with staff and volunteers

- Coordinate and distribute 2-4 weekly enews
- Package and execute content created by staff and volunteers
- Identify graphics, photos, and other visual identities for promotion of our activities, in collaboration with Communications Team
- Compile relevant and up-to-date events and opportunities, membership info, advocacy updates, committee meetings, and community news
- Manage, update and maintain enews segment lists in collaboration with membership, development and programs team
- Plan and coordinate social media calendar in collaboration with Sr. Communications Manager and membership, development, and programs teams
- Package, and occasionally produce, content for social media platforms, in collaboration with staff and volunteers
- Identify graphics, photos and other visual identities for promotion of our activities, in collaboration with Communication team
- Capture onsite photos and videos of AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival events and programs
- Manage day-of social media volunteers during Festival days to promote and provide full coverage report-out of Festival events
- Responsively engage with our community on social platforms, liking, reposting and sharing out content of interest to our members and audience, and engaging followers
- Update websites as needed to ensure that AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival websites contain current, compelling and well-presented information to our members and the public, including program and event listings.
- Draft blog posts to support communications efforts
- Assist the Senior Communications Manager with website maintenance, as well as website development and migration projects
- Execute content on website from our Festival partners to launch the Festival
- Support the development of communications and marketing plan in collaboration with the Sr. Communications Manager to attract attention and attendance to AIA Seattle Seattle Design Festival activities
- Support additional marketing and promotional tactics to expand the reach of our organizations
- Review of analytics and drafting quarterly communications reports to the board
- Download, archive, and organize photography from programs
- Provide feedback on social media and enews strategies to inform future campaigns
- Contribute to the overall success of our organizations
- Provide support to other communication team members when needed, and help develop redundancy and back-up plans for the whole team
- Attend AIA and SDF events and functions as required
- Additional admin needs for Communications Team and organization as needed
- Contribute to and participate in marketing and staff meetings
- Support delivery of annual AIA Seattle member vote
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adapt edit and draft content that aligns with our brand voice and adapts across various platforms.
- Ability to quickly problem-solve, prioritize and manage a diverse task list
- Organized, detailed, and efficient with minimal oversight
- Project management skills including planning, coordinating and implementation
- Demonstrated work experience in social media, marketing, communications, or related field, preferably in an office or non-profit environment
- Proficiency with Constant Contact or similar email marketing software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Preferred experience with social media management platforms (such as Hootsuite) and Google Analytics
- Preferred graphics experience, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator
- Preferred WordPress experience - working knowledge of some HTML, CSS and/or PHP a plus
- Positive attitude and flexible approach
- Personable, collaborative and team-oriented, while also comfortable working self-directed
- Resourceful, adaptable, self-driven, nimble
- Ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
