About The Position
The Supervising Engineer supervises, trains, and evaluates distribution planning personnel, and coordinates their work with regions, operations, designers, customers, and other Ameren Illinois departments focusing on voltages under 34kV. Ensures that work group products and services are compliant with Ameren standards, design guidelines, policies, and state and federal tariffs and regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Direct, review, and perform studies to develop long-range electric distribution (<34kV) system plans.
- Oversee initiation of capital projects in collaboration with Transmission & Distribution Design, Distribution Control and Region Engineering with solid project rationalization/justification.
- Direct and review generation interconnection studies, DER analysis, customer load addition evaluations, and distribution system analyses.
- Collaborate with planning groups in Ameren MO, Transmission and Ameren IL on common practices and modeling tools.
- Work with Planning groups, GIS and Digital to ensure GIS information supports modeling tools.
- Provide operating personnel with technical support and recommendations on system issues including the impact of planned and unplanned facility outages, voltage problems, and other items as requested.
- Support initiatives to achieve target levels of electric service reliability and meet reporting requirements.
- Provide technical support to Regulatory and Legal groups, including delivery tariff support, wholesale rate cases, and future Multi-Year Integrated Grid Plans.
- Review updates of planning criteria.
- Pursue planning tool and process improvements and training and development of the planning team members.
- Contribute to the development and achievement of Integrated System Planning Department goals.
- Participate in the restoration of electric service during major storm response efforts by serving in a support role.
- Participate in research activities as needed.
- Support implementation of SB2408 for planning related activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical with an emphasis in power, from an accredited college or university required. Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred. Five or more years of relevant engineering experience required. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines required. Must possess good organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Must have demonstrated leadership behaviors with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly across multiple organizations, solve problems decisively, and be proactive and self-motivated to identify improvement opportunities, establish priorities and meet deadlines.

Compensation Range:
$128,700.00 - $199,500.00At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
