Position Description
This Attorney Liaison position is a position that is situated in the Attorney Collections Department. The Attorney Liaison performs duties which support and enhance the collection of outstanding patient accounts receivables through communication and interaction with attorney offices, insurance carriers, patients and any other payor sources that involve outstanding patient account balances. The ATTORNEY LIAISON is responsible for keeping current and updated information in three vital areas: 1. Case status for personal injury claims, 2. Claims status for third party payor sources, and 3. Payment status on all negotiated balances. The ATTORNEY LIAISON has significant interaction by phone and computer with legal offices, insurance companies and patients. The ATTORNEY LIAISON is expected to meet productivity expectations on a daily basis.
Position Duties
The position requires the following primary duties to be successful:
- Contacts attorney offices to obtain case status and insurance information
- Follows up with insurance companies to obtain claims status
- Follows up with attorneys offices on payment status of negotiated balances
- Sends correspondence to attorney offices and patients to initiate negotiations and/or obtain case status
- Assists Clinics and/or Verifiers to secure missing case/claims information
- Updates patient accounts with current and accurate information to allow for successful verification and correct billing
- Updates attorney offices with treatment status and current patient balances
- Confirms attorney receipt of patient records and bills or secures missing information for the attorney's office
- Confirms all payments received are the correct negotiated amounts
- Answers "Zero Line" for all corporate departments
- Assists Medpay (MP) and Major Medical (MM) team to facilitate receipt of monies owed
- Opens and sorts mail; logs checks (payments)
- Other duties as requested of the department manager that are consistent with and appropriate for this position title and role

- Provide proven experience in attorney collections
- Demonstrable experience in collections, especially in personal injury medical claims
- Knowledge of medical collections best practices
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Outlook software
- Broad knowledge of and experience with personal injury product line
- Understands basic medical terminology, financial concepts and general business functions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Attorney collections 70%
Position Requirements
- Education: High School diploma; college course work or diploma a plus but not required
- Experience: 2 years of Experience in medical collections, with at least one year working in the personal injury industry
- MS Office, Excel and Outlook experience
- Preferred: Ability to multi-task under time pressure. Strong communication and leadership skills; proficient computer skills
- Be team oriented and able to work within a diverse group of colleagues, managers and team leaders. Be able to make sound decisions while on the move in a fast-paced organization.
Position Miscellaneous
- 40 hours per week; extended work hours from time to time to meet deadlines
