What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remote Manager- Exam Content - CPA position at AICPA?
About the Role:
Reporting to the Associate Director – Content Management, the Manager – Exam Content will primarily support the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) and Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR) sections of the CPA Exam. This role includes implementing test development production plans, specifically the creation and/or review of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and task-based simulations (TBS) for the CPA Exam. Additionally, the Manager – Exam Content could support work on other sections of the CPA Exam as required or background/experience allows.
The role is remote friendly but occasional travel to the office in Ewing, New Jersey will be required.
You Will:
Development of MCQ items – manages MCQ item writing, MCQ item review, and preparation of MCQ items for pretesting and subcommittee review. Specific areas include review of blueprint coding, references, and key verification (i.e., MCQ item quality technical review process) and working with the Senior Manager for a specific Exam section for preparation of the quarterly resource file.
MCQ Item development process – act as a liaison to the MCQ item writing process by providing ongoing feedback to MCQ item writers and reviewers to improve MCQ item quality and recommend overall process improvements.
Inventory management – manage and implement work plans to meet MCQ and TBS production plans. This includes "reworking" MCQ and TBS items that are deemed salvageable during the review process.
Manage TBS development and in-house TBS item writing, including developing ideas for TBSs, and creating scoring specifications.
Attend workshops for MCQ and TBS item development and review as needed.
Attend internal roundtable reviews of TBS.
Attend subcommittee meetings to facilitate review and synthesize feedback from AICPA's volunteer subcommittees.
Work with cross-functional teams (Exam Content Section Senior Technical Managers, test development, production, psychometrics and research, and project managers) to develop work plans to meet exam section goals and objectives.
Quality Assurance
Manage and implement quality control procedures that require technical expertise.
Maintain proficiency in changing technical accounting standards, auditing standards and technology advancements, including changes and current practices within the profession.
Contribute to candidate rescore and appeal procedures and responding to candidate inquiries that require technical expertise.
Other Responsibilities
Help complete compliance requirements and performing security investigations for exams team.
Provide input/recommendations for improvement opportunities to processes, procedures and policies.
Attend conferences and meetings for technical/professional updates.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
CPA
6+ years' experience in financial accounting or auditing and attestation
Understanding of audit and attestation services with knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and standards or regulations issued by the FASB, U.S. SEC, and AICPA

The Salary Range for this role is: $100,000 - $128,700. Please note, this is a standard range and exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
