Aimee Melich Law is seeking a motivated attorney eager to develop their skills in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases. This is an exceptional opportunity for a newly licensed attorney or someone early in their legal career to receive hands-on training and mentorship in bankruptcy law, while working closely with an experienced attorney in a small, boutique law firm setting.
This is a full-time, in-person role (Monday–Friday), with compensation based on experience. Our office is a relaxed, supportive environment, but we are serious about our work and the high caseload we manage. We prioritize individualized attention for our clients, guiding them through every step of the bankruptcy process. While our primary focus is bankruptcy, we also handle some real estate and civil litigation cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and assist with preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions, motions, and other court documents.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, and court personnel regarding case status and updates.
- Assist with managing bankruptcy files, including drafting schedules, handling deficiencies, trustee negotiations and all phases of the chapter 7 and chapter 13 process.
- Attending bankruptcy hearings including 341 meetings and confirmations.
- Attending civil hearings including motions, depositions, and mediations.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all bankruptcy documents.
- Assist in overseeing legal staff and review of any and all documents before being filed in court.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to practice law in Florida (recent graduates or newly licensed attorneys are welcome to apply).
- Willing to consider a candidate studying for the bar if we find they are the right fit for the firm.
- Strong interest in learning bankruptcy law and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with a professional demeanor in client interactions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bestcase and Clio is a plus, but not required.
