As the Regional HSE Manager, you will be responsible for the modification, implementation, management and overall direction and oversight of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs, strategy, and staff activities along with related organizational performance standards to support the East Region.
The Regional HSE Manager provides a vital support service for AIMS Companies. This individual will be responsible for Regional Safety Management System implementation, branch HSE operations, HSE program development, incident investigations/causal analysis, injury case management, hazard analysis, HSE audits, safety training, OSHA compliance, worksite visits, and conducting safety audits/job site inspections for the assigned region/branch.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Branch and field operations leadership and serve as a SME regarding interpretation of federal, state and local HSE regulations.
- Align corporate and local HSE goals and strategies.
- Provide HSE leadership and technical expertise to regional and branch management team, evaluates safety performance against established targets and reports on safety performance.
- Lead employee training programs regarding HSE programs, behaviors and compliance.
- Lead HSE audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators, when applicable.
- Lead Continuous Improvement initiative regarding HSE policies and programs.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local HSE regulations
- Preview projects and project sites before work begins to determine HSE related risks. Participates in the safe planning of work by advising operations and project managers on contractual and Company safety requirements. Attends safety meetings and project startup meetings.
- Where appropriate, work with operational leaders and customer representatives to develop project specific safety plans.
- Prepares and reviews risk assessment, work permits, and other supporting safety documentation. Visits site projects regularly to perform audits and inspections, identify any hazards and liabilities, and to ensure company employees are working in a safe manner and under safe working conditions.
- Work with project management teams and field workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related issues or risks on project sites.
- Review equipment inspection records to confirm compliance and / or observe unsafe conditions.
- Investigate employee and company incidents and injuries following established investigation protocols and processes.
- Perform causal analysis on various incident categories and assist with identifying corrective actions.
- Identify and communicate solutions, new improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Maintain HSE related documentation and safety training records/certifications, as required.
- Provide various HSE and Operational training, as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College / University in Health & Safety, Industrial Management or related discipline.
- Five (5) or more years of HSE management experience in a multi-line of business operation with multiple site locations.
- A combination of applicable experience an education will be considered.
- Professional Certification from a nationally recognized organization (ASP, GSP, CSP, OHST, COSS, etc.) strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to travel, occasionally overnight, regionally 25-35% of the time.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships resulting in an informed and engaged workforce.
- Demonstrated success in utilizing leading and lagging KPIs resulting in driving health and safety metrics lower.
