Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$44,187.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$46,397.00

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

This position will be responsible for the landscape maintenance at Aims' Greeley Campus. The main focus of this position will include mowing, trimming, chemical/herbicide spraying and general grounds maintenance. Additionally, this role will require independent decision making for factors including, turf health, roadway and walkway maintenance, and any or all safety concerns related to Greeley Campus grounds. This position will be responsible to plan, coordinate and assign work to subordinate Grounds Maintenance Technicians and seasonal employees working within the scope of Greeley campus maintenance.

Greeley Campus Maintenance:

  • Responsible for addressing maintenance factors needed at the Greeley Campus and accommodating these needs, which will often times require independent decision-making.

Turf Maintenance:

  • Mow turf, roadway medians and buffer zones with commercial mowers and tractor-mower combinations.

  • Prepare areas for seed or sod; cultivate sod from existing areas if necessary, lay sod and sow seed as needed for landscape purposes.

  • Aerate, spray, fertilize, and perform necessary preventative turf maintenance.

  • Monitor conditions, cutting heights and overall turf health.

  • Repair, maintain, eroded areas to prevent safety hazards; maintain groomed appearance.

Landscape Maintenance & Project Work:

  • Tree pruning which occasionally requires the aid of a 40' man lift when required to reach upper limb heights.

  • Perform backhoe and trencher excavation for underground utilities and irrigation system.

  • Move equipment, supplies, materials and excavation debris utilizing trucks and appropriate equipment.

  • Chip and grind dead and removed tree limbs and trunks with a commercial chipper to recycle as landscape mulch.

  • Mulch landscaped areas (rock, wood, etc.)

  • Performs landscape demolitions/renovations with skid loader, industrial tractors and loaders to load, haul, lift, grade, level, dig, plow, sweep, etc.

  • Performs duties that include planting of grass (seed or sod), trees, shrubs, and installing decorative rock, mulch, tree bark with weed barrier during small landscape construction projects.

  • Assist in installing or modifying sprinkler system during small landscape construction projects.

  • Watering of trees, shrubs, plantings with watering tank especially in drought conditions or when newly installed.

  • Independent decisions are expected to be made for day to day activities as it pertains to grounds maintenance. Manager, Grounds Maintenance must be notified of all decisions made.

Snow & Ice Removal:

  • Plow and/or sweep the roadways, parking lots and pedestrian ways with snow removal equipment.

  • Hand shovel, remove snow/ice in specific areas not accessible by motorized vehicle/equipment.

  • Distribute sand, ice melt or equivalent via specialized equipment or other means as necessary.

  • Assess weather, snow and ice conditions and adjust removal procedures as necessary.

  • Implement follow-up procedures if conditions persist or as needed.

Small Grounds & Landscape Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Operate small equipment used to groom and manicure the campus grounds (small mowers, trimmers, saws, blowers, vacuums, weed-eaters, etc.)

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance and be responsible for safety and working condition of all the small grounds and landscape equipment as listed above.

  • Estimate materials needed to complete assigned task, order equipment and supplies.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED; plus, two (2) years in landscaping, landscape horticulture, maintenance in a commercial setting, or other related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

  • Safety and Operation Certifications for the following equipment (or ability to become certified within twelve (12) months of hire): Forklift, Skid loader, Manlift, Van driver and trainer, and wood chipper.

  • A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.

  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism.

  • Good customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of proper operation, maintenance and repair of equipment used in performing tasks and basic mechanical principles.

  • Experience in safe handling, mixing, application procedures, and storage of herbicides, pesticides, and chemical preparations.
