The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Youth Activities Center Program Coordinator (Supervisor) (NH-0188-02) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Force Support Squadron, Youth Center (412 FSS/FSYY) at Edwards Air Force Base in Edwards, CA.


NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.

This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $46,020 - $109,673 (includes locality).

Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:

- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Skill in compiling and composing both quantitative and narrative reports for a variety of agencies based on analyzing data and circumstances.

- Ability to supervise and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures.

- Ability to meet and deal with customers using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.


Mission/Purpose:

To contribute to readiness and improve productivity through Services programs that promote and enhance the wellness, morale, and quality of life for the entire Edwards community.


Major Duties:

- Serves as the Youth Program Coordinator: Serves as the assistant to the Youth Director. Within established agency policy and objectives, assists in planning, organizing, and directing and publicizing portions of the youth activities program.

- Devises, improvises, and adapts these various activities to meet a wide range of participant’s needs and interests, and works within the limitation of funds, facilities, equipment, volunteers and paid staff.

- Regularly offers a daily and year-round program of activities to involve a wide spectrum of the base youth population in positive activities. Ensures that the Air Force required youth programs are offered, to include the "Yes" program, "Trail" program, "Congressional Awards" program, and other required Boys and Girls Club programs, such as Torch and Keystone Clubs, Fine Arts and Performing Arts programs, Power Hour, Youth of the Year, and Fine Arts and Photography Exhibits.

- Establishes administrative procedures and operating instructions and maintains continual surveillance over their application to ensure compliance. Maintains continuous oversight and directly supervises all program operations and activities to ensure they comply with DOD, Air Force, and local policies, guidelines, and standards are consistent with national standards.


Qualifications/Requirements:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain Security clearance

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical

- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, techniques, theory, methodology, policies and practices of school age youth relating to the physical, intellectual, social and nutritional development of youth ages 5-18 yrs.

- Knowledge of youth regulatory requirements, policies and practice to include DOD, AF, AFMC, AFFTC, and any other applicable regulation for youth and/or school age.

- Skill in planning and carrying out a youth recreation program for dependent youths which meet the needs of the participants.

- Skill in the effective management of the financial and physical resources of youth recreation programs.
