About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor (WS-8801-13) to work at the 412 Maintenance Group, 912th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron/Heavies Unit, (912 AMXS/MXAC) at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
In this position you will provide on-equipment maintenance for General Test & Test Aircraft. To provide on-equipment maintenance supervisor for either the day or swing shift for one of the AMU production elements, which can include several aircraft maintenance flights. To manage, supervise, and technically direct personnel performing aircraft & ordinance system inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair, modification, and overhaul of various assigned aircraft and ordinance systems and associated components, including organizational intermediate, and depot level maintenance and Type 2 modifications.
Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2024 salary range: $117,749 - $137,387 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Position not eligible for telework
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- 2 years of flight test experience desired
- 3 years aircraft mechanic experience desired
- 1 year of supervisor experience desired
Major Duties:
- Knowledge of a wide range of principles, and techniques of conventional aircraft maintenance and repair trades, including advanced avionics; and personal management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal - Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment common to trades supervised.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications
- Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission
- May supervise on day or night shift
- Subject to unscheduled recall, and to work uncommon tour of duty, overtime or nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of conventional aircraft maintenance and repair trades.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
