About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Aircraft Maintenance Unit Supervisor (WS-8801-13) to work at the 912th Maintenance Squadron/Bombers Unit (912 AMXS/MXAB) in California at Edwards Air Force Base.
The purpose of this position is to provide on-equipment maintenance for General Test & Test Aircraft. To provide on-equipment maintenance supervisor for either the day or swing shift for one of the AMU production elements, which can include several aircraft maintenance flights. To manage, supervise, and technically direct personnel performing aircraft and ordnance system inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance repair, modification, and overhaul of various assigned aircraft and ordnance systems and associated components, including organizational intermediate, and depot level maintenance and Type 2 modifications. May also be required to act as the flights Weapons Manager.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2025 salary range: $125,888 - $146,862 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Position not eligible for telework
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- 5 years of Bomber flight test experience required
- 2 years Bomber Flight Line Expediter experience required
Major Duties:
- Is accountable to the AMU for quality and quantity of work done by subordinate mechanics with authority to accept or reject work based on visual and complex measurement criteria.
- Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes for all trades of work supervised.
- Advises employees of performance expectations and explains new work techniques, as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- May be required to travel tour of duty (TDY) by government or commercial aircraft, bus, rail, or automobile.
- May be assigned other duties deemed necessary within the Aircraft Maintenance Unit to support its mission.
- May supervise on day or night shift.
- Subject to unscheduled recall, and to work uncommon tour of duty, overtime or nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of conventional aircraft maintenance trades and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
