About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Deficiency Reporting System Specialist (NH-0301-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412 Test Engineering Group, 773rd Test Squadron, Reliability and Maintainability Integration Flight (ENFR) at Edwards Air Force Base
The primary purpose is to perform as manager and technical expert of the USAF Materiel Deficiency Reporting and Investigating System at the AFTC. The USAF Materiel Deficiency Reporting and Investigating System has been
established as an essential system in the test, development and evaluation of aircraft weapon systems. The Watch Item (WIT) and Deficiency Report (DR) manager provides oversight and professional expertise for the establishment, provisioning, advocacy and training of the USAF Materiel Deficiency Reporting and Investigating System at the AFTC. Additionally, the WIT/DR manager will be responsible for building, producing, maintaining and distributing a common database to be used by all test programs.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2025 salary range: $103,316 - $159,716 per year (includes locality)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree Desired
- 3-5 years Deficiency Reporting experience
- Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend accurate, timely, and economical solutions.
- Ability to effectively work independently and lead team efforts.
Major Duties:
- Responsible for training, career development, and assignment of Deficiency Reporting (DR) personnel at the AFTC.
- Responsible for the building, producing, maintaining and distributing a common database to be used by all test programs.
- Acts as the Center advisor for deficiency reports. Assists test organizations in establishing and maintaining DR systems, establish and maintain a documentation library of both test and non-test organization DR systems.
- Prepares and provides training on the establishment, use, and maintenance of a DR system that is in accordance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Provides Center wide oversight through the input into test plans, representation of the Flight Test Center at conferences, tracking and reporting of center-level DR metrics and DR training.
- Assists CTF DR managers in all aspects of establishing a Watch-Item/Deficiency reporting system.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Knowledge of Deficiency Reporting (DR) theory and precepts and general knowledge of Configuration and Data Management, including knowledge of directives to develop, implement, maintain, and advocate DR and data management programs.
- Ability to interpret complex technical orders, regulations, and policy and to devise new methods and documentary guidance that are without precedent.
- Knowledge of aircraft hardware, software, systems, integration of avionics, airframe, and engines, support equipment, and aircraft maintenance procedures (USAF and contractor) to identify and document deficiencies and to assess operational and technical impacts of problems and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of USAF DR databases and familiarity with other commonly used software programs, such as EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, etc.
