About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Flight Director (Interdisciplinary: NH-1550-04, NH-1515-04, NH-0801-04, NH-0854-04, NH-0855-04) to work at the 48 Cyberspace Test Squadron’s Aircraft and Munitions Test Flight (48 CTS/TGEA) at Eglin Air Force Base.
The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the supervisor providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over supervisory and nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 48 Cyberspace Test Squadron. Responsible for performing professional scientific and management work in support of projects/programs pertaining to supporting the development of Department of Defense (DOD) and commercial Cybersecurity Test and Evaluation (T&E) of Aircraft and Munitions. The flight director’s focus encompasses all cybersecurity test and acquisition activities in the flight and those extending across the squadron, group, detachments, and operating locations.

Typical 2025 salary range: $124,531 - $190,424 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Up to 40% telework possible (must reside in local area)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- At least 1 year of developmental cybersecurity test execution, developmental cybersecurity test management, developmental cybersecurity test support experience, or software certification experience. More than just ISSO/ISSM experience
- At least 3 years of team leadership and planning/budgeting experience
- At least 1 year of experience in either Aircraft or Maintenance operations
Major Duties:
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for Aircraft and Munitions Test Flight, to include managing multiple geographically separated members.
- Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the flight, to include ensuring adherence to governing DoD directives and advocating for future needs/growth areas in manpower, budget, and schedule.
- Serves as the cybersecurity T&E subject matter expert in cyber testing of aircraft and munitions and leading teams performing cyber testing.
- Represents and communicates the 48 CTS findings, recommendations, and impacts with a variety of 96TW, Developmental Cyber Test & Evaluation, and other DOD agencies.
- Serves as the primary focal point for cybersecurity T&E for developmental cybersecurity T&E of aircraft and munitions. Interacting with program offices and other test organizations to coordinate and collaborate on test planning, execution, reporting, and conveying results.
- Augments and collaborates on cybersecurity risk assessments for aircraft and munitions systems, leveraging the insights to guide test activities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain a Top-Secret Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- This is an interdisciplinary announcement, and the successful candidate’s education and/or experience will be used to determine the series. An accredited Bachelor of Science (ABET) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field is required.
- The position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The supervisor must meet or be cable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. The supervisor is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements. APDP Level II in Test and Evaluation is required.
- Professional knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices required to support the following mission areas: Traditional IT Penetration Test and Evaluation. This position requires the attainment of one of the following cybersecurity certifications: Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) certification. An OffSec Certified Professional (OSCP) is highly desired.
- A diverse background of experience and knowledge in one or more of the following mission areas: developmental cybersecurity and/or cyber resiliency T&E, penetration testing, reverse engineering, Risk Management Framework (RMF), systems acquisition process, network/system development and integration, aircraft/munitions testing, cybersecurity risk assessment, and the system engineering processes.
- Knowledge to test and evaluation of complex programs to ensure system cybersecurity requirements, interfaces, test capabilities, and program factors are considered in planning, monitoring, and reviewing the system artifacts, the system engineering documents, and RMF system security plans as part of the acquisition process.
- Knowledge of cyber penetration testing practices for aircraft and munitions systems. Ability to communicate penetration test results to program owners to understand risk and mission impact from test findings.
- Experience in test execution of one or more of the following mission areas: Penetration Testing, Aircraft/Munitions Functional Testing, Cybersecurity Risk Assessment.
- Experience in Aircraft operations or Maintenance operations.
