What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Fleet Maintenance position at SkyWarrior Flight Training?
The SkyWarrior Director of Fleet Maintenance is responsible for leading the company's maintenance efforts and team for a fleet of approximately 100 aircraft including Cessna 172s, Piper Seminoles, DA-40s, and DA-42s. This role is a key contributor to the company's safety culture and is responsible for instilling a safety focus in the maintenance team. Success in this position is measured by aircraft safety and availability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Schedule and direct companywide maintenance efforts at all locations including preventative maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and supervision of maintenance personnel
- Ensure that all aircraft maintenance is performed and recorded in accordance with the aircraft work card and/or manual, FAA and Company standards
- Verify that all maintenance discrepancies are recorded and corrected in accordance with the aircraft maintenance manual
- Forecast critical aircraft components and ensure parts are on-hand when needed
- Serve as the Company's primary point of contact for FAA compliance checks
- Provide company leaders with daily, weekly and monthly updates on fleet availability
- Manage the company's maintenance budget
- Make recommendations for changes to maintenance processes
- Manage the maintenance personnel including making recommendations for hiring, disciplinary action, promotion and termination of employees
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all FAA and SkyWarrior Aviation Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit for extended periods of time
- Dexterity to continuously use computer mouse and keyboard, phone and other office equipment
- Occasionally work on knees, bend, crouch, and reach overhead and lift up to 70 lbs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma (required)
- Associates Degree in Business, Logistics, Aviation Management or a related field, highly desired
- FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License/certifications with Inspection Authorization (IA) (highly desired)
- At least ten years’ general aviation maintenance experience
- FAA 145 Repair Station management experience (desired)
