About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time IT Specialist (INFOSEC), (NH-2210-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Communications Squadron (412 CS/SCXSA) at Edwards Air Force Base.
Serves in the Wing Cybersecurity Office by administering and managing the overall Information Assurance (IA) program to include Emissions Security (TEMPEST), Computer Security (COMPUSEC), Local Registration Authority (LRA), Remanence Security, Operations Security (OPSEC) and IA Awareness programs. Performs site accreditation surveys, routes accreditation packages and initiates protective measures after IA incidents are discovered.

Typical 2025 salary range: $103,316 - $159,716 per year (includes locality)
Travel Requirements: No travel

Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- 2 years of experience in cybersecurity desired
- 2 years of software approval desired
- 2 years of Risk Management Framework experience desired
Major Duties:
- Serves as a Wing A&A and COMPUSEC specialist. Applies Information Technology (IT) security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources and information processed throughout the system's life cycle.
- Establishes and publishes base-wide policy to manage the various aspects of the COMPUSEC program and provides guidance in its implementation and in procedures used in the development and operation of the various existing and emerging COMPUSEC program's policies and directives.
- Serves as an ISSM for IT systems as directed Validates threats and vulnerabilities to the information systems to ensure the appropriate level of protection.
- Provides oversight, guidance, and direction to ensure the wing IAAP, TEMPEST, COMPUSEC, and A&A programs are thorough and effective.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- Information Assurance Certification is condition of employment. Per DoD 8570.01-M, certification must be achieved w/in 6 months. Failure to receive proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
- Knowledge of IT INFOSEC security requirements for certification and accreditation, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation, and performance management methods sufficient to plan and conduct security accreditation reviews.
- Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques for protecting computer systems from uses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
- Knowledge of a broad range of telecommunications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media, equipment, equipment configuration, and related software systems, processes and procedures to assess and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g., espionage, disruption of services, destructive programs/applications) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications. 5. Ability to apply findings of assessments to mitigate IT security risks through the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ability to apply policies, principles, and IT security concepts sufficient to carry out activities leading to security C&A.
