About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Position Lead Police Officer (GS-0083-08) to work at the 412th Security Forces Squadron S3OG (412 SFS/S30G), AFMC at Edwards Air Force Base.
To serve as a work leader. To provide law enforcement, force protection, preserve the peace, detect and investigate crimes, arrest/apprehend violators, and respond to emergency situations. To enforce a wide range of federal laws and assimilated local laws for application and enforcement within the assigned Federal Jurisdiction.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2025 salary range: $65,065 - $84,582 per year (includes locality)
Travel Requirements: No travel
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
- 2 years of Security or Law Enforcement required.
- 2 years of experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to
- Prior Patrolman, Dispatch, or Law Enforcement certifications.
- Prior Field Training officer experience desired
Major Duties:
- Performs the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions.
- Conducts Investigations/Surveillance.
- Performs as Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) Controller.
- Performs emergency response and incident command and control.
- Assists supervisory police officers in performing or completing assigned tasks such as managing and practices.
- Gives on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices
- Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service, to include protests, active shooter events, and terrorist attacks.
- Executes emergency response procedures need to isolate, contain and defeat hostile actions and restore normal operations as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Knowledge of applicable law enforcement and security AF, Federal and DoD rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principals, and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism, and physical security
- Knowledge of police officer procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of police officer activities independently to include protection level resources, installation entry control, armed response, and dispatch.
- Must obtain certification from a FLETA accredited Police academy.
