About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time SUAS/CSUAS Program Manager (NH-0080-02) to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) Department of Air Force (DAF) Police (AEDC/TSD-SF) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Selectee should provide robust relevant and efficient range and spaceport capabilities for the nation. Serves as the Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) and Counter-Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (CSUAS) Program Manager to the TSD Security Forces. As such, provide technical expertise, expert guidance and comprehensive advice to Security Forces and installation-level leadership on SUAS and C-SAUS readiness, training, risk management, and integrated defense capabilities. Administer all SUAS and C-SAUS software, databases, and maintain accountability of related equipment, certifications, and training. Manage SUAS and C-SUAS standards and evaluations program and provide readiness determinations for Security Force members.

Typical 2024 salary range: $39,576 - $94,317 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.

- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for conveying technical information.
- Capability to identify issues quickly and develop effective solutions, particularly in high-pressure situations.
Major Duties:
- Manages SUAS and CSUAS program for the Security Forces Squadron.
- Performs as a subject matter expert for all assigned SUAS and CSUAS platforms
- Provides expert level knowledge of assigned SUAS and CSUAS system, design, capabilities and limiting factors.
- Conducts long-term planning, workload management, functional/technical advice and guidance, and continuity of operations for the unit-level SUAS and CSUAS program.
- Aligns all SUAS and CSUAS guidance with Air Force, Space Force, and higher headquarter instruction and directives.
- Provides conflict resolution recommendations and coordination input into the installation and integrated defense plan.
- Manages all SUAS and CSUAS program software and equipment logistics.
- Perform on-hand accountability and record keeping of program-related equipment which requires operating Government Owned Vehicles (GOV) as part of assigned duties.
- Serve as the training authority and expert on all matters involving modernization and programming of SUAS and CSUAS.
- Creates, builds, maintains, monitors and updates training guidance and training plans for all SUAS-O personnel.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & Maintain Top Secret Security clearance
- This is a designated Drug Testing Position
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
- Expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials and equipment associated with aerial surveillance SUAS and CSUAS programs.
- Expert knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations and the separation of aircraft in terminal radar approach control and control tower operations, and of the functional and operational limitations of ATC equipment such as: radar systems, navigational aids, weather indicators, remote status indicators, radios, landlines, recording equipment, ATC simulation systems.
- Skill in application of aerial surveillance training techniques and principles to both help develop training operators acquire knowledge in operation of SUAS and CSUAS systems as well as develop additional competent trainers for the same purpose.
