Job Responsibilities
Located in High Springs, FL.
The Production Lead is responsible for leading the team/shift, directing work and supporting supervisor with day to day tasks. The Lead also operates our chemical processes and performs production related activities, utilizing their chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner. The Lead works in a team environment where collaboration and teamwork are critical to meeting the goals of the business. Ability to work rotating shifts - day and/or nights and support other sites as needed.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for ensuring every member of the team follows Air Liquide Advanced Materials Critical Priorities: Safety, Quality, On-Time delivery
- Responsible for ensuring all team members follow company safety rules and work instructions.
- Must lead by example
- Serves as a member of the High Springs Site Leadership Team
- Fill the role of Incident Commander in case of an emergency.
- Actively participate in Emergency Response Team training design and execution.
- Ensure production activities match priorities set by Site Management.
- Resolve priority conflicts when they arise, using best judgment. Contact Site Management if necessary.
- Verify that team members are fully deployed in a productive and positive manner.
- Perform routine checks to ensure team members are in compliance. Typically 3-4 times per shift.
- Act as the first responder for equipment, process and general production issues. Use best judgment to resolve these issues while taking the input and advice of technicians that are more qualified to operate a particular process. Contact appropriate personnel when additional guidance is needed.
- Notify Plant Leader for all injuries and plant evacuations when safe and appropriate to do so.
- Initiate IMS reports and actively participate in root cause analysis
- Investigate quality non-conformances using appropriate root cause analysis techniques and suggest corrective and preventative actions.
- Successfully complete all required training.
- Provides working knowledge of the processes to coach and enhance the technical capabilities of the team by sharing experiences, technical skills, and knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with all employees, operations management, and all other departments as required.
- Ensure proper shift-turnover is accomplished and Shift Turnover Report is completed.
- In function with business demand, safely and efficiently operate processes to meet the day-to-day quality, production and productivity goals of ALAM – with a demonstrated exemplary safety record.
- Ability to roll cylinders- Rolling cylinders requires an individual to tilt a cylinder slightly with one hand, and use the other hand to move the cylinder forward by rolling it
- Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to climb ladders
- Actively participate on ALAM’s emergency response (ER) team including as an ER entry team member, which requires wearing a tight fitting full-face respirator
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in a chemical process operations environment
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Q4 Leadership (producing sustainable results through respectful accountability and pinpointed, data-driven feedback).
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with basic computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
- Independently initiates activities and responsibilities that contribute to the achievement of goals and consistent and defect-free results
- Researches, develops and incorporates new ideas and process improvements into work
- Demonstrated ability to operate a plant scrubber system and troubleshoot problems
- Demonstrated understanding of plant gas monitoring system and ability to troubleshoot problems
- Demonstrated understanding of plant fire systems and alarms
- Completed Hazmat technician level training from a certified body
- Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and ability to climb ladders.
- Must be and remain clean shaven and able to wear a full face tight fitting respirator and a fully encapsulated (Level A) ER suit.
- Ability to roll cylinders- Rolling cylinders requires an individual to tilt a cylinder slightly with one hand, and use the other hand to move the cylinder forward by rolling it
- Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to climb ladders
- Actively participate on ALAM’s emergency response (ER) team including as an ER entry team member, which requires wearing a tight fitting full-face respirator
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working with related manufacturing systems from order scheduling through shipment
- 2 years of experience with FTIR and Gas Chromatograph analysis techniques and equipment and ability to troubleshoot problems
- Successfully demonstrate the ability to independently run at least two of the following plant unit operations: chemical synthesis, distillation, cryotrapping, mixing
- Performance-based Leadership skill set
- Incident Commander Training – ICS200 minimum
- DOT/IMDG/IATA Certification
- RCRA Certification
- Demonstrate the ability to disposition slow moving, off-grade cylinders (SMOG)
- Familiar with manufacturing ERP systems (PF / PM / Cylinder Handling)
