Opportunity
As an Engineering Manager on the Database Sources team, you will push forward Airbyte's mission-critical source connectors that extract customer data from databases, data warehouses, and ERP systems. These are our largest revenue driving segment of connectors. This role isn't just about oversight; it's about deep technical exploration and leadership.
You will guide your team in diving into various databases to understand their specific approaches to optimized queries, write-ahead logging, and information schema management. Leveraging these insights, your team will develop efficient data extraction methods and implement Change Data Capture (CDC). You will play a key role in shaping the frameworks and strategies that make Airbyte's database sources reputable at scale and the undisputed industry leaders. Finally, you will help to build the tools to empower our community to create and extend databases on their own.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the Database Sources team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Provide technical leadership to pioneer new patterns, tools, and frameworks for connector development.
- Mentor and develop engineers, helping them grow their technical expertise and career paths.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality, high-volume, enterprise sources for Airbyte.
- Drive the strategic vision for database connectors and shape the team roadmap to align with company goals.
- Oversee the planning and execution of database connector projects ensuring milestones are delivered on time by coordinating with cross-functional teams. Manage project timelines, resources, and risks to achieve successful outcomes.
- Build leverage : a week-long task this year should take ten minutes next year. Advocate for continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and team practices.
