Job Overview
We are the excited new owners of an existing, growing mechanical contracting and service business seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations, ensure the integrity of our financial reporting, and to be an integral part of our fast growth opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills with a background in accounting principles and practices, with expertise in financial report writing, budgeting, and technical accounting. As a key member of the management team, the Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for two organizations with more to come!
- Manage the general ledger accounting process to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Develop and implement budgeting processes to support organizational goals.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management review and decision-making.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure timely resolution of any findings.
- Provide guidance on technical accounting issues and support the finance team in day-to-day operations.
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks for efficient financial management.
- Review and analysis of company's business plans and financial model to ensure we are meeting our business objectives, growth, and financial goals to allow us to continue to grow.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is a bonus but not necessary.
- Proven 5 years of experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping and general ledger accounting.
- Lead cost control processes and support project managers with financial data.
- Proficiency in financial report writing and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting processes and financial concepts.
- Experience with Sage and QuickBooks is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present financial information to stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
