The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the lifecycle of engineering projects from initial receipt of order to delivery and final closure. The PM has the autonomy to make project decisions in order to maintain the scope, schedule, and budget as defined in the internal / external contract documents. Exercises independent judgment with regard to matters of significance. This position reports to the PM Manager.
Responsibilities :
- Managing multiple engineering projects of varying values concurrently
- Maintain intimate familiarity with contract scope; pursue clarification from sales and / or customers when needed
- Identify scope creeps as they occur and request change orders in conjunction with the Sales group prior to executing the modified scope
- Monitor and control project budget and spending
- Stand as the project’s primary point of contact between the customer and Airline Hydraulics; Manage customer relationships and expectations
- Stand as the project’s primary point of contact internally within Airline Hydraulics; Facilitate communication between the different Airline Hydraulics groups internally including Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Order Processing (OPG) as well as outside contractors as needed.
- Coordinate project meetings with stakeholders when needed (internal and external kickoffs mandatory); Record and publish meeting notes to stakeholders
- Within the project team, define roles and responsibilities for the duration of the project; Coordinate responsibilities between the 3 Engineering Groups within Airline as required.
- Plan and generate project timelines using industry-standard tools (e.g. Gantt Charts); Develop full-scale project plans defining project tasks and resource requirements
- Monitor project progress according to the established baseline throughout the lifetime of the project; Identify schedule creep before adverse impact occurs
- Track project deliverables, documentation submittals, as well as delivery of purchased items per schedule; Expedite delivery of items as required by project timeline
- Regularly report project status to internal and external stakeholders as required by the schedule; Hold internal parties accountable for keeping the schedule.
- Make sure that all parties involved with the project have needed information (e.g. Approvals, Specifications, etc.) and resources to accomplish their tasks by the scheduled deadlines.
- Bring in required authorities within Airline Hydraulics to make executive decisions as needed. For example, Change Orders of substantial costs or Warranty costs going against a project will require management Approval.
- Coordinate with Engineering and QA groups to ensure deliverables meet customer specifications
