Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Manufacturing, the Assistant Manager oversees Group Leaders and Administrative Coordinators within their respective areas while monitoring daily activities. The selected individual is tasked with ensuring that all Safety and Quality standards are followed while production objectives are achieved. Additionally, the AM works to develop day to day continuous improvement projects, which results in improved overall safety, quality control, team member development, cost savings and productivity.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages day to day aspects of manufacturing operations for assigned group.
- Provides guidance to staff including advising Group Leaders with the more complex aspects of their assignments.
- Trains GLs in all aspects of the department GL Expectations
- Oversees the Administrative Assistant in all aspects of Admin Expectations
- Identifies training needs of specific groups and ensures that all Team Members have the required skills necessary to achieve production and quality standards.
- Identifies and resolves problems and conflicts in assigned areas by working closely with their respective leadership and support groups (Mfg, QA, QE, Maint., Eng., HR, Etc.)
- Ensures consistent enforcement of policies and procedures (i.e. Dress Code Policy, Safety Standards, Quality Standards, Standard Work). Works closely with HR regarding complex employee issues
- Analyzes data and monitors daily work processes to detect trends. Develops and implements actions as required.
- Coordinates and communicates for major safety, quality and production issues. Provides leadership and advice on the actions to take to resolve issues. Works closely with Quality & Safety Leadership
Accountabilities:
- Creating and management of a safe work environment-conducts accident investigations-countermeasures
- Maintaining production standards and achieving target availability
- Support and provide guidance Group Leaders
- Actively communicates dept. issues to Mfg. Mgr.
- Ensuring that all company standards and company policy are followed by team members.
- Maintain acceptable levels of TM Morale
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Production and Processing Quality- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, 3 Pillar, and other standards and techniques for maximizing quality and availability.
- 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
- Mechanical - general knowledge of machines and tools, measurement instruments, automation/robotics, maintenance and repair. Computer Knowledge
- - MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Active Listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
