Compensation : $170K - $200K
Reporting : Director of Engineering
Technical Leadership
Lead the requirements, design, interfaces (ICD) and development of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and electronic systems.Oversee the specification, drawings and control of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) artwork process.Integrate the functions of Electronic Design, PCB layout, and Component Engineering to efficiently execute customer programs.Act as a technical expert and "Principal Investigator" for advanced engineering challenges.Conduct engineering analyses (timing, latency, bus loading, worst case etc.),lead technical peer reviews and phase gate reviews for ongoing development.Provide technical support to internal teams and customers as needed.Ensure proper review, approval, and release of electrical drawings and documentation.Participate in CCA troubleshooting and Root Cause / Corrective Actions (RCCAs).Process Improvement
Define and implement processes and tools to enhance product quality and development efficiency.Train engineering personnel on design processes and enforce process compliance.Monitor and recommend the latest advancements in components, design, and process technologies.Initiate and oversee phase transitions in the development process (e.g., transitioning to design only after requirement approval).Development Program
Negotiate and establish engineering budgets and schedules for development programs.Track KPI on cost, schedule, and performance metrics using reports from the Project Management Office (PMO).Analyze performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust forward plans based on lessons learned.Manage engineering personnel, including performance reviews, career development, training programs, and corrective actions.Handle administrative tasks such as timecards, vacation approvals, and general HR functions.Define and track department budgets, tools, and training requirements.Staffing and Task Assignment
Recruit and onboard engineering staff, including writing job descriptions, reviewing resumes, and conducting interviews.Allocate personnel to programs based on skill sets and project needs.Identify and address additional staffing requirements as the department evolves.New Business and Proposal Support
Provide technical expertise and support for proposal development, including defining technical approaches and authoring content.Generate Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Rough Order of Magnitude ROM for cost models.Support customer interactions and respond to technical inquiries.Collaborate with engineering staff to produce and publish technical papers and articles.Requirements
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.15 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with 5 years in a lead or managerial role.Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.Hands-on experience in :Designing electronic assemblies using embedded processors (ARM, x86, PowerPC).Data communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, ARINC 664, AFDX, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RS 422, RS 485, UART, SATA, USB, TSN).High-speed PCB design (up to 16GHz) and switch fabric protocols (e.g., PCI, PCIe, VME).Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary design teams.Familiarity with VHDL coding and managing outsourced design work.Preferred Qualifications
2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager in a matrix organization.Recent technical experience in the Aerospace / Defense industry.Knowledge of :Knowledge of EMI design mitigation, cross-talk interference and simulation (Spice, Hyperlynx)AI / ML concepts and architectures.Design assurance processes (DO-254).Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS)J-18808-Ljbffr
