Job Description: Warehouse Manager (Working Location - East Hanover, NJ)


The Warehouse Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage and distribution of goods for a global freight forwarding company. This role is key to managing the logistics of inventory, inbound and outbound shipments, as well as ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The Warehouse Manager will lead a team of warehouse staff, collaborating closely with other departments to optimize warehouse processes and support the broader goals of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to optimize space, reduce waste, and improve overall warehouse productivity.
  • Monitor inventory levels, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment of stock.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing shipments, coordinating with the freight forwarding and logistics teams.


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of warehouse staff, ensuring they are trained in safe and efficient operational procedures.
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide coaching and support to ensure team productivity and morale.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.


Inventory Control:

  • Manage inventory levels and implement systems to monitor stock movements, minimizing discrepancies and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations to ensure that physical stock matches inventory records.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in inventory management and stock handling.


Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that warehouse operations comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and audits to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment and ensure all machinery is in good working condition.


Customer & Vendor Coordination:

  • Liaise with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
  • Resolve any customer complaints or issues related to warehouse operations or product handling.
  • Work closely with the freight forwarding team to ensure timely deliveries and optimize logistics processes.


Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on warehouse performance, including inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and safety compliance.
  • Ensure all warehouse activities are accurately documented, including goods receipt and shipment records.
  • Track KPIs and provide data-driven recommendations for process improvements.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).


Experience:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in warehouse management, ideally within the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
  • Proven experience in managing warehouse operations, inventory control, and leading teams.
  • Knowledge of global shipping, freight forwarding processes, and warehouse management software (WMS) systems.


Skills:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management and logistics best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Certifications (preferred):

  • Forklift operator certification (if applicable).
  • Safety and compliance training certifications (OSHA, etc.).
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (optional).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to various environmental factors (temperature fluctuations, noise, etc.).
