Director of Engineering-FL

We’re seeking a dynamic and dedicated Director of Engineering to join the AKA team and oversee both Hotel AKA Brickell and AKA West Palm. This position is an incredible opportunity for someone passionate about ensuring that our luxury residences and common areas meet the highest standards of safety, comfort, and quality.

As a Director of Engineering, you’ll not only manage day-to-day maintenance but also function as an ambassador of our Korman culture and AKA brand standards. You’ll inspire our team, build relationships with residents, and foster a strong connection with our vendor partners—all while ensuring seamless, top-tier service across both locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead with Purpose: Function as an ambassador of the AKA culture and brand, inspiring and motivating both your team and residents to uphold our commitment to excellence in every interaction.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and coach the engineering team, ensuring high performance, motivation, and consistent service delivery. Oversee two Engineering Managers, ensuring they are supported and equipped for success.
• Operational Excellence: Perform daily walks of the property to ensure pristine maintenance service delivery, safety, cleanliness, and attention to detail in both residences and common areas.
• Resident Service: Respond promptly to all maintenance issues, concerns, and special requests from residents, ensuring a timely and effective resolution.
• Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external contractors and vendors to guarantee quality service and timely completion of projects.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations, performing necessary training, safety checks, and managing all safety protocols for the team and property.
• Financial Stewardship: Manage budgets and expenses, controlling labor costs, supplies, and vendor contracts to meet financial targets and support the long-term goals of the property.
• Special Projects & Innovations: Lead asset walks, oversee preventive maintenance programs, and drive initiatives that enhance the longevity and appearance of the property.
• Emergency Management: Be ready to act swiftly and efficiently in case of any emergencies, from fire alarms to HVAC malfunctions, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and team members.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, including leadership in engineering and facilities management.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, elevators, fire control systems, and residential hi-rise building systems.
• Communication: Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptability: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to be “on call” for emergencies.
• Passion: A dedication to ensuring the highest levels of resident satisfaction, operational efficiency, and team development.
