Aker Solutions located in Mobile, Alabama is looking to add to their permanent team in Manufacturing and Production and hire a Production Technician.

As an on-site position it requires residence within driving distance.
You must be able to work in the United States now and in the future without work authorization assistance.
What will you be doing?
Essential Functions: Non-office professional able to apply specialized skills with increasing levels of independence.
Job duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Actively participate on Health, Safety, Security, and Environment programs and strictly follow their standards
- Operate and maintain machinery / production line equipment using a combination of automated and manual controls
- Perform operations using power and manual tools, including but not limited to orbital TIG welding, grinding, drilling and others
- Using methods requiring internal (and/or external) certification, perform specialized tasks (e.g.: cable / umbilical sheathing repair) and assist on the execution of highly specialized tasks (e.g.: tests and splices on electrical / fiber optic cables, various umbilical destructive tests, etc)
- Actively participate on the Lean Manufacturing Program
- Inspect product quality using gauges such as callipers, tape measures, Pi tapes as well non-destructive testing methods
- Monitor product and process parameters, ensuring that products are produced according to specifications
- Use personal / industrial computers and mobile devices to report production line information, interact with production line equipment, and perform other duties
- Read / interpret production instructions, procedures and drawings, and execute tasks in accordance with them
- Operate forklift and/or overhead
We think you should have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of Manufacturing/Assembly experience required. Experience from mechanical production, may include heavy production equipment and/or chemical processes, millwright, pipe fitter, welding, control room operator, or other relevant experience
- Experience from umbilical and subsea production/completion of Aker Solutions' apprenticeship, preferred
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Must possess at least three of the following. Where experience / skill is not detailed, it's implied a level of understanding which enables an intermediate level of independence in performing tasks. Experience may be replaced by a combination of experience and training:
- Level I certification in radiographic non-destructive testing (NDT-RT) according to SNT-TC-1A
- OHSHA compliant overhead crane certification
- OHSHA compliant forklift certification
- Experience in the use of precision measurement instruments
- Experience in orbital TIG welding
- Experience in high pressure hydraulic testing
- Experience in fiber optic and/or electrical LV/MV cable testing
- Experience in plant fiber optic splices
- Requires the ability to operate a personal computer
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, instructions as well as engineering drawings and/or blueprints
- Ability to operate machines and hand power tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Sound mechanical knowledge including threads and thread forms, limits and fits, measuring units and conversions, basic mathematical operations and mechanics, and properties of materials.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
