Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
  • Perform routine animal care tasks, including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
  • Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including oral and injectable medications.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments to prevent injury to staff and pets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and preparing examination rooms.
  • Monitor animal behavior and vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
  • Assist with laboratory tests, including collecting samples for analysis.
  • Provide support to pet owners by answering questions and educating them on proper animal care.
  • Assist with/set up surgery & dental suites prior to surgical procedures.
  • Perform laundry duties.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Assist with transporting pets to and from exam rooms.
  • Assist the CSR with scheduling/reception as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Completion of a veterinary assistant program is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Basic understanding of animal behavior and restraint techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (at minimum).
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes.
  • Ability to lift, stand, bend and/or kneel for the duration of an (up to) 8-hour shift.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends or holidays (as needed).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Compassion and empathy towards animals and their owners.
  • Basic computer skills for managing records and scheduling.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
