The Indian Health Service (IHS) is seeking a Radiology Technician with Mammography Certification to provide imaging services at the White Earth Health Center. The technician will be responsible for performing diagnostic Radiographic and Mammographic examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct general imaging exams (chest, head, abdominal, spine, upper/lower extremities).
· Perform standard examinations independently with high accuracy in positioning and exposure.
· Maintain patient records and image files.
· Utilize fixed radiography, mammogram, and bone density units.
· Perform quality control on radiography units, troubleshoots malfunctions, and reports issues.
· Identify and perform radiology/mammogram services based on age-specific patient needs (pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
· Adhere to all written procedures and policies, including radiology/mammogram technical procedures, radiation safety, and infection control.
· Engage in radiology quality assurance and continuous quality improvement programs.
· Keep updated on changes and advances in the field through continuing education.
· Maintain a clean and orderly radiology area.
· Practice infection control procedures per accreditation standards and regulations.
· Use personal protective equipment as needed.
· Evaluate examinations to recognize and address deviations from normal results.
· Repeat exams if necessary and reports abnormalities.
· Provide professional and respectful patient care.
· Maintain accountability through time and attendance logs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Certification as a Radiology Technologist (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists equivalent).
· Mammography Certification (ARRT (M) preferred).
· Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification (American Red Cross).
· Minimum one year of experience in radiology and mammography.
· Must be a United States Citizen and possess the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
· Works Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM as needed).
· Demonstrates professional knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Exercises critical thinking, independent judgment, and ethical decision-making in all aspects of work.
· Knowledge of Radiographic techniques, safety protocols, and patient care standards.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to follow instructions, specifications, and procedures accurately.
· Proficiency in using and maintaining radiology, mammogram, and bone density units.
· Knowledge of privacy and confidentiality regulations (HIPAA compliance).
· Ability to maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety in the work environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse patients and staff.
