Performs maintenance operations in support of Fort Hood Logistics Support Services (LSS).  Activities include, but are not limited to directing and overseeing the repair or replacement of components and end items.  Implements maintenance policies in order to efficiently repair equipment.  May be required to assist with special service programs (back up unit equipment services), 10/20 upgrades, equipment enhancement/life extension programs, and fabrication of special items. Directs and coordinates the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, service and repair of combat vehicles, artillery, tactical vehicles, missile launchers, communications-electronics items, optical instruments, small arms and crew served weapons.  Directs the overhaul of major components and associated ancillary equipment. - Plans and organizes maintenance workloads to optimize the use of personnel.  - Establishes program objectives and assesses progress.  - Develops work scheduling and scheduling procedures to ensure most efficient use of resources.  - Analyzes reports on maintenance schedules, performance, requirements and trends.  - Coordinates with supported unit commanders monthly, quarterly and as necessary for problem resolution.  - Evaluates Maintenance ADP reports for performance trends, indicators and potential problem areas.  Initiates actions/corrective actions to resolve problems and prevent delays in production.  - Plans, reviews and manages OJT programs for subordinates.  - Proficient in and a key player for Total Quality Management (TQM) in the maintenance department.  - Responsible for Maintenance Information Management System operations - Advises the Project Manager on the status of maintenance workload and the effectiveness of support activities.  - Interviews and makes hiring decisions for personnel. - Prepares and presents briefings on maintenance related activities to Government personnel.  - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:     E ducation:          Associates Degree in the technical trades or equivalent military training desired.  Formal training in business/personnel management desirable.               Experience:         A minimum of five years general experience in management, professional, investigative, technical or other responsible work in providing services to support a specified maintenance mission.  Five years specialized experience in progressively responsible positions encompassing the following:  understanding of program planning, funds control, data collection and analysis and control of techniques.  Broad knowledge of the organization and procedures of a variety of maintenance functions to include fire control, combat vehicles, automotive and electronics equipment.   Personnel management courses desirable.     Security Clearance:     Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance    Material & Equipment Directly Used:   Working knowledge of shop tools, computers, printers, Microsoft products and other software related to the maintenance operation.   Working Environment/Physical Activities:   Extensive interaction with the customer is required.  Work is generally conducted in an office environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Work requires long, strenuous hours and being able to work under pressure.
