POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervise 3-5 Akin accounting staff to ensure all daily financial functions are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with the development and monitoring of agency budgets. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial statements. Assist with preparation and management of external audits. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages the daily financial functions and ensures that tasks are performed in an accurate and timely manner
- Supervises accounting staff including hiring, training, and performance planning and review
- Responsible for the preparation of internal financial statements and other financial reports. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of reports
- Assists with the development of the annual operating and capital budgets working in partnership with directors and program managers
- Assists with the monitoring of the monthly operating budget: Ensures that expenses are reviewed for appropriateness, proper coding, approvals and supporting documentation
- Reviews supporting monthly journals authorizing adjustments as needed. Ensures timely and accurate invoicing of revenue sources and timely proper accrual in the revenue system
- Assesses regional accounting needs on ongoing basis and takes necessary steps to ensure that those needs are met
- Assists with the preparation of local, state and federal tax returns and payments, ensuring adequate documentation and timely filing
- Assists with the preparation and management of annual independent financial and single audit
- Develops, implements and maintains accounting procedures and systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Develops and implements internal controls, operating procedures and quality control systems within centralized accounting functions
- Maintains a productive work environment through effective communications, proper training and adequate staffing levels. Exercises and enforces confidentiality when dealing with budget, personnel and client-related matters
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and FASB reporting rules
- Knowledge of IRS non-profit filing and reporting requirements
- Proficient in using databases is preferred
- Proficient in MS Windows, MS Office Suite, and MS Outlook
- Strong human relations’ skills with progressively responsible supervisory experience, including hiring, firing, training, performance evaluation, conflict resolution and disciplinary counseling
- Strong written communication skills required, including verbal and written
- Negotiating skills required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting plus 5 years accounting experience required, including experience in budget development
- Must have experience with automated general ledger, accounts payable, and billing systems, and preparation of financial statements
- Experience in spreadsheet development and analysis is required
- Two years supervisory experience is required
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives consumers. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Public accounting experience and CPA
- Experience in the nonprofit industry
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

The target starting pay for this position is $80,724-$88,795, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account.
