Akkodis is seeking an Engineering Technician for a 20-month W2 contract job with a client in Chattanooga, TN. This technician role will be assisting with analysis, trial coordination, solution implementation, and ensuring adherence to schedules with minimal guidance, all within an automotive manufacturing environment.

Rate Range: $33.00/hour to $35.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Role Summary: This technician role will be providing comprehensive support to Engineers through analysis, trial coordination, and implementation of solutions. Responsibilities include conducting Fitment Trials to meet internal targets, ensuring adherence to Pre-Series build and delivery schedules for Launch and Life Cycle Management, and operating with minimal guidance and motivation.
Engineering Technician job responsibilities include:
- Perform manual measurements for specific problem analysis.
- Data collection/Monitor quality data daily to determine any need for countermeasures.
- Cross reference measurement data with technical drawings and other specifications.
- Review part and assembly concepts to verify design intent.
- Analyze in house (body, paint, and assembly shop), supplier (sheet metal and plastic parts) and logistical processes to determine root causes for any dimensional deviations.
- Design/develop check gauges for analysis.
- Support the design of check and assembly gauges for series production use.
- Analysis of work processes, evaluation of improvement measures of manufacturing quality, ergonomics, and operating safety.
- Optimization of process arrangements to assure built in quality can be achieved by the production team member.
- Support the assembly line by monitoring the build process and training team members for specific quality related problems.
- Cross reference standardized work with assembly process design specification
- Support special car team.
- Try new parts on the assembly line during the sampling process and evaluate any negative impact for the assembly process.
- Support coordination activities for implementation.
- Assure pre-series and series build processes by defining and implementing short term countermeasures for any kind of appearance quality or manufacturability problems.
- Analysis of product launches by supporting prototype/pre-series build.
- Monitor new product launches and evaluate risk for future quality or manufacturing issues during the pre- series phase.
- Participation in root cause analysis concerning failures of new design in whole car groups and in interrelated systems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate degree in automotive technology from an accredited college.
- 2 years of experience related experience automotive assembly or equivalent experience and/or repair experience.
- Familiar with root causes analysis of assembly deviations as well as in identifying and implementing effective countermeasure.
- Solid understanding of technical drawings, specifications, functional dimensions, measurement reports etc.
