The Position:

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Hardware Designer will contribute to concept reviews, design to current electrical and safety standards and maintain customer specifications. Designs will use AutoCAD Electrical for schematic drawings and BOM generation.

What You’ll Be Doing:

·        Design and develop electrical designs as per customer and project requirements based on standard Akona methods using AutoCAD Electrical.

·        Provide electrical assistance and troubleshooting support during project build, integration, and support phases

·        Select hardware and software components such as Programmable Logic Controllers PLCs, analog devices, VFDs, motor starters, motion controllers, sensors, safety components, intrinsic barriers.

·        Translate ideas into detailed electrical drawings

·        Assists other team members by finalizing drawings and redlining documents to correct information based on feedback from Production and Field Service

·        Create precise wiring schematics, back-panel layouts, and details according to industry standards (UL 508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79)

·        Generate and manage detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials)

·        Maintain and organize CAD files

·        Develop and manage Work Instructions, SOPs, and other guide documents

·        Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating, panel heat loss/cooling, and power phase balancing

·        Contribute to continuously improving methods of design with the goals of enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost

·        Work with project managers, mechanical designers, software designers, and panel builders to solve problems to provide the customer with a complete functional automation system

·        Provide accurate documentation for each project

·        Assist with developing more junior resources through coaching and mentoring

·        Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings

·        Ensure scheduled milestones are met and escalate to Team Leads if a milestone is at risk

·        Open to working with EPlan P8 and ProPanel in the future for designs.

What We’re Looking For:

·        Bachelor’s degree or relevant and equivalent work experience.

·        Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a must.

·        Experience with Eplan P8 a plus but not required.

·        Knowledge of various electrical machinery standards such as UL508A, and NFPA 70/79

·        Knowledge of various safety standards such as EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061 would be an asset

·        Certified under UL 508A a plus but not required

·        Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

·        Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
