Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sr. Manager of Procurement with production planning experience to join our team. The Sr. Manager of Procurement will oversee procurement strategies, supplier relationship management, contract manufacturing operations (CMO) management, and have a dotted line to production planning and scheduling. The role requires a strong understanding of procurement principles, product life cycle management, CMO management activities, production planning and scheduling, and supply chain optimization as it relates to the areas of focus. Functional responsibility includes all aspects of procurement, purchasing, production planning and scheduling, contract manufacturing operations management, and metric reporting. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset with relevant experience in the life sciences field.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals, NPIs, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring cost-effective and reliable supply of materials.
- Collaborate with production planner/analyst to align procurement plans with production schedules.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Production, and Finance teams to align supply plan and projected spending with the demand plan
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets and resource allocation as it relates to scope of duties and responsibilities
- Analyze inventory levels and forecast material requirements to minimize downtime and optimize stock levels.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and risk mitigation.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and production planning processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Commercial Operations, Quality Assurance, Product Management, and Operations, to streamline workflows.
- Prepare and present procurement performance reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain, with at least 5 years in procurement within the life sciences industry.
- Proven experience in production planning and scheduling and proven success working cross-functionally.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of ERP systems, NetSuite is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity working with CMOs in the life sciences sector.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong Excel skills with ability to process and manage large data including pivot tables.
The hiring range for this position is $136,000 - $170,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
