Duties:
- Evaluate fire protection and alarm systems on existing facilities.
- Develop fire protection system requirements to include, but not limited to fire pumps, tanks, distribution systems, hydrants, and sprinkler systems.
- Perform fire protection engineering design functions on a variety of large public and private developments.
- Direct junior engineers as necessary.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and other clients.
- Maintain currency on development in codes and standards within the Fire Protection industry.
- Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
- Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects
- Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients
- Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
- Understands and follows QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff

- Licensed Fire Protection Professional Engineer.
- B.S. Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.
- Minimum10 years’ experience with fire codes and in designing fire protection systems.
- Experience designing fire protection equipment, alarms, and suppression systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
- Experience with building and fire safety code analysis, fire dynamic analysis, and fire risk analysis is required.
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards. Experience with DoD UFC criteria a plus.
- Working knowledge of applicable computer-aided design programs (Revit, Autosprink for Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience in developing contract documents for a wide variety of fire alarm and suppression systems (including special suppression systems).
- Specialization in fire sprinkler systems and other water-based systems design.
- Experience leading or growing a team is a plus
