About the Role
The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Senior Civil/Water Resources Engineer to work in our New York City office. This individual will serve a key function in the design and management of a broad range of resiliency, green infrastructure, flood reduction projects for both our municipal and private sector clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of New York.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead/support the planning, design of climate resilience and adaptation projects including stormwater resiliency and drainage projects in NYC and the Metropolitan Area.
- Prepare engineering drawings and specifications for the following types of projects:
- Right-of-way green infrastructure
- Stormwater management facilities
- Storm sewer and other drainage improvements
- Perform analyses and prepare reports for the following types of assignments:
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling
- Floodplain mapping
- Best Management Practices (BMPs) for water quality treatment
- Other types of projects related to resiliency and stormwater drainage, as needed.
- Lead/support project management responsibilities including managing discrete tasks, project schedule and budget.
- Lead/support construction administration responsibilities including periodic site visits to active construction sites.
- Provide direction, delegation and training to junior staff.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
- 5-10 years of experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D is essential.
- Experience with NYC DDC/DEP projects
- Familiarity with Hydraulic & Hydrologic modeling
- Familiarity with ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro
- NYS PE or ability to obtain NYS Licensure within 6-12 months of hire.
- Day-to-day project communication and coordination with clients and other design consultants.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Superior attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines.
Compensation
Compensation will range from $85K to $120K, and commensurate with experience.
