POSITION SUMMARY :
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Utilizing CHA Standards this position is responsible for teaching students with a variety of experience. This will encompass our overnight and day summer camp, and our year-round lesson programs. Responsibilities include : supervising staff, teaching lessons, grooming, tacking, general horse care, feeding, maintenance, and customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Responsible for the safety of participants in and around the ranch area
- Reports to work on time, dressed in appropriate attire
- Assist with hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of all part-time and seasonal ranch staff and volunteers
- Assist with the maintenance of trails, fences and pastures
- Responsible for properly tacking and grooming horses for trail rides and lessons
- Cleans and inspects tack for wear and tear. Replaces or repairs when necessary
- Teaches horsemanship and mounted lessons using positive and safe techniques.
- Tracks student progress and communicates with parents / guardians
- Use CHA and Herd standards to help students grow and learn
- Communicate with staff, volunteers, and parents in a positive and supportive demeanor.
- Helps maintain record keeping on Horse Health, Horse usage, Volunteer Hours, lesson student testing
- Supervise volunteers, part-time and seasonal staff
- Lead and or support birthday parties, special events, and trail rides
- Complete all other jobs as assigned
