The Corporate Major Giving Officer will work under the direction of the Senior Director, Development at the Akron Campus to plan, coordinate, and implement all fundraising initiatives for current and prospective corporate partners in the Foodbank service area. This position will utilize a donor-centered approach to maintain a portfolio of 100 major corporate donors; to develop strategies for portfolio growth; coordinate with development leadership to optimize collaboration across the development team; focus on all aspects of relationship management including growing the donor’s knowledge of the organization, involvement, and financial support. This includes but is not limited to personal meetings, tours, donor engagement events, and other methods of cultivation. The officer will set a vital tone of professionalism, compassion, efficiency, and fundraising ingenuity as they represent the Foodbank both internally and externally. Salary range: $75-$80k. M-F, 8am-4pm.
Job Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement a comprehensive approach to corporate giving in order to bundle requests and identify engagement points for corporate partners, maximizing opportunities in all eight counties.
· Steward and grow existing and secure new corporations/businesses to support all Foodbank fundraising initiatives at a major gift level.
· Develop a comprehensive approach to a robust and strategic prospecting plan for new corporations and businesses in the eight county service area.
· Create a corporate donor plan to increase major giving from current and new corporations who have capacity and affinity to the mission.
· Coordinate the relationships with corporate volunteers in collaboration with the volunteer team.
· Work collaboratively with the fund development team to secure sponsorships for all Foodbank Special Events including but not limited to Merry Meals Mixer, Selfless Elf and Harvest for Hunger Kickoff Luncheon.
· Develop new and maintain established philanthropic relationships with regional and national corporations who have an affinity to food insecurity. Create compelling written proposals and presentations to corporate prospects and implement appropriate stewardship strategies. Craft, prepare and present compelling Corporate Partnership opportunities and presentations to corporations in the 8-county service area providing appropriate stewardship and follow up.
· Collaborate with Donor Services Team to ensure that all donations are acknowledged appropriately and in a timely manner.
· Accurately track all donor interactions using the Raiser’s Edge software system
· Perform other duties, as needed.
Required Qualification (knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies):
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Communications, Marketing or Non-Profit Management.
· Five or more years of direct corporate fundraising solicitation experience in mid-to-large non-profit organizations.
· Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to deliver compelling, coherent messages in one-to-one, small group and large group settings. A communication style that is open, cordial, empathetic, warm and persuasive. Good listener and consensus-builder.
· Ability to network effectively with individuals and businesses at all levels.
· Passionate advocate for closing the food insecurity gap.
· Natural collaborator with the ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds on projects to gather information relevant to the work.
· Critical problem solver with the ability to concisely convey perspectives.
· Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and to manage multiple priorities and balance competing priorities.
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Donor Database Management software such as Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect and/or Andar software extremely helpful.
· Available during off-hours for communications of all kinds.
· Must be able to follow all American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) safety regulations.
· Occasionally required to travel out of town on business and asked to work evenings and weekends as warranted.
